Clayco developers needed a redesign of their website, beginning with a homepage that loaded too slowly and extending across 6 sites for their family of companies. My team started with visioning sessions to establish what the client saw as successful about the current sites, identifying their business goals and competitors, and to what degree each site should look similar or different from each other. We used visitor analytics, including heatmaps, device and resolution data, and navigation paths to validate the client’s direction and build the site architecture.
We worked collaboratively with Clayco’s marketing team and the CEO to design the sites from sitemap to wireframes to visual design. Their long-time developer partner Studio 2108 partnered with us to create, test, and launch. The most significant challenge was developing a system to highlight Clayco’s diverse building types, from low slung distribution centers to sleek towers. Our solution was a grid of project images capable of dynamically arranging both landscape and portrait double-square photos.
Each finished site shares a common typeface, layout, and menu system, with variations on a shared palette and photo guidelines to suit their brands.
